In recent years, GMail, Yahoo Mail, and other popular webmail systems have become increasingly sophisticated and full-featured. While Birdhouse offers two fully functional webmail systems to users (Squirrel Mail and Horde), webmail systems of equivalent quality simply aren’t available to hosting systems such as Birdhouse.

Users who consider themselves heavy webmail users may prefer to forward their custom domain email to GMail, Yahoo Mail, or another system. Look in the options or preferences sections of the receiving webmail system for an option to establish multiple “identities” — these will let you establish custom Compose / Reply To addresses.

By utilizing custom mail identities on remote webmail systems, you can enjoy the familiar interface those systems have to offer and still utilize your custom domain email address(es).
