Using Webmail

Although we feel that it’s much more efficient and flexible to read and write mail with a desktop mail client such as Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, or Entourage, we recognize that many users rely heavily on webmail (while traveling, for example).

To access your webmail, just type “webmail” on the end of your domain name. For example: http://yourdomain.com/webmail.

When prompted, enter your full email address and mail password.

Once logged in, you’ll have a choice between two webmail systems: Horde, and Squirrel. Both access exactly the same mail data. Squirrel is the faster choice, while Horde has more features (and even includes an online calendaring system). You can switch between webmail applications at will.

Note the Forwarder, Vacation Message, and Change Password links at the bottom of the webmail login page.

Birdhouse also hosts a “beta” installation of Roundcube webmail. This webmail system is in development, but features a cleaner, more modern interface and some features that nicely mimic the behavior of a desktop mail client. Note that we may upgrade or remove Roundcube at any time.
