Managing Disk Quotas

Each Birdhouse Service Plan comes with a pre-set amount of allocated disk space. Exceeding your disk quota may result in temporary suspension of your account (you’ll receive email warnings before suspension). Suspended accounts can be unsuspended on request by contacting support.

The amount of disk space consumed by your account is a total of the size of all files in your home directory (which includes your web data files, email stored on the server, and any non-public files living in your home directory), plus any databases you own.

Note that when you create email accounts, you can give each account a disk quota of its own. If you just have a few email accounts, you’ll probably want to make these large - say, 100MBs each. On the other hand, if you control several domains and each of those domains has dozens of email users, you’ll probably want to make their quotas small — say, 20MBs each.

You can keep an eye on your current disk consumption by logging in to cPanel and looking at the status entries under “Disk Usage.”

If you require additional disk space, contact support — we can sell additional disk space on a yearly basis.
